    Kissimmee Waterkeeper Internship

Kissimmee Waterkeeper is the newest of the 14 Waterkeeper Alliance organizations in Florida. Waterkeeper Alliance is the fastest growing water advocacy organizations in the USA and world with 350 member organizations globally, half within the USA and half outside the nation. Robert F. Kennedy Jr is president of Waterkeeper Alliance (www.Waterkeeper.org).

Kissimmee Waterkeeper is a new advocacy group but its organizer, Dr. John Capece, has developed other Waterkeeper programs in Florida as well as several other environmental and educational non-profit groups.  You can learn more about the background of the internship supervisor at https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-capece/. Since the year 2000, Dr. Capece has hosted more than 500 interns from 68 nations for programs ranging from 2 months to 24 months. Internships are described in greater detail at www.KissimmeeWaterkeeper.org/internships.

Internship project priorities include scientific studies, business administration, public education, legal advocacy, etc. There are very few academic majors who are not in a position to contribute to the Kissimmee Waterkeeper mission. In most cases, an internship program can be developed to fit a student’s individual interests and career objectives.

Kissimmee Waterkeeper interns serve as volunteer with no paid stipends. Internships can be either virtual or on-site. We have housing and office space available in LaBelle, Florida at the southern end of the Kissimmee Watershed. Office space in the Orlando/Kissimmee area is under development but awaiting reduction in the COVID limitations.
